Cut or Bitten Tongue, Lip, or Cheek
Apply ice to any bruised area from the outside. If bleeding, apply firm pressure with clean gauze, cloth, or folded paper towel. Cuts on the tongue may bleed heavily as it is loaded with blood vessels. For this same reason, the tongue also heals very fast and rarely needs sutures.
If the bleeding does not stop with pressure, continues after 15 minutes, go to an emergency room.
